Rogues Radio, a new EU Radio Station for City of Heroes players!

After spending a few months off the wave, some of our favourite DJs have returned to entertain the rocking hell out of us thanks to a brand new internet radio station initiative suitably called: ”Rogues Radio”!

While this station will not cater exclusively for our City of Heroes players, you will probably recognise a few names, Rosie and DJ Coin to name but a couple, as they have been playing the game for quite a while now.

Expect a lot of fun in the coming months so stay tuned!

Works of Creative Genius

Nominations for the regular Creative Genius awards run in our Creative forum close today, so next week I’ll be looking through and choosing a winner. For those unfamiliar with this forum, there’s some absolutely amazing works of art, fiction and more posted on a regular basis.

I’ll be selecting winners for November and December last year this time around, and it is not going to be easy. November saw an amazing amount of artwork and fiction created, as authors and artists got involved in NaNoWriMo and NaNoDraMo. Hearty congratulations to all those who took part, especially those who reached their goals: DrDestiny, Happy_Dan and LeighB. Great work also from others, such as Catz_ and The_MESS.

December also saw some amazing art, as DrDestiny decided to gift community members with free character portraits for the festive period. I suspect he underestimated demand, as he’s still processing requests now and may be doing so for quite some time. Bonus for us: we get lots of great art, and with avatar versions of his portraits proliferating across the forums I’ve certainly enjoyed the visual side of the forums much more lately!

If you tend to ignore the Creative forum, there’s a lot you’re missing out on! It’s definitely worth a visit once or twice a week to see what’s popped up. Character portraits, comics, fiction, music and more ... it’s all there. I always look forward to picking out the monthly Genius.

Embarking on a new year…

2009 is upon us, and it’s looking like a big one. Looking back at 2008 there was so much that happened for City of Heroes, including the huge Quality of Life patch, Issue 12, the Omega Sektor event, Issue 13, the new website along with this very blog, and lots more. This year has launched with a bang as well: barely had the year begun before City of Heroes was launched for Mac. This week the awesomeness continues, with the first Double XP Weekend of the year. Barely will that be over when our eyes will turn to Valentine’s Day and the Spring Fling event. This year marks the 5th anniversary of City of Heroes as well, a fantastic landmark to look forward to.

With Architect on the horizon, this could well be the year when the community takes over the MMO. Player created content is coming to City of Heroes, and I’m definitely excited to see what some of the creative geniuses present in our community come up with. I may even tinker with it myself, having been a bit of a dabbler in this sort of thing in the past.

Speaking of community, we’re keen to hear what you’re all up to! Such as, for example, The New Guardians Super Group. They’re looking for a new uniform, and instead of imposing something the leader threw together during a lunch break they’re asking all of their members to take part in a Design A Uniform competition, making use of the costume save/load feature introduced in Issue 13. Will be interesting to see what they come up with!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the new European City of Heroes website! And, even better, welcome to the new European City of Heroes community blog! This new blog is where I’ll be talking about all sorts of odds and ends: from important stuff like events run by you, our community, to discussion of events we attend and more. Even more exciting, this is a place where I can share with the entire community anything of interest that gets sent to me. If you’ve got something you think the community might be interested in, send it to me at and you just might see it discussed here!

This new version of the City of Heroes site will continue to grow and evolve over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for some new and exciting features as well as the return of some familiar ones! It’s exciting for us, because a new website means a fresh start, and this particular fresh start means we can think big on new site features.

This is an exciting time for us on the community team. A new website, and a new place to talk to you, our community. Now, what are you doing here? There’s a new issue to be playing!
